Nicolas Trudgian is often described as a landscape artist who paints aircraft. In truth he can turn his hand to almost any form of painting or composition, an ability which gives his paintings such variety. He has an eye for "hardware" as he puts it, and revels in depicting machines from the past; his love for these subjects is evident in every painting he has completed. His portrayal of the classic fighters and bombers of the great wars have propelled him to the forefront of his field. Whether it is Guy Gibson leading 617 Squadron Lancaster on the daring Dambuster attack of May 1943, or Adolf Galland blasting off an airfield in his remarkable Me262 jet fighter , each painting reveals a level of resolution and colour brilliance that has become the hallmark of this superb artist's work he ranks among the top three most popular aviation in the world. Nick Trudgian lives in Gloucestershire England. |
