COASTAL PATROL

Description

Coastal Patrol, a new painting by the remarkably gifted young artist Richard Taylor, depicts Mk I Spitfires of 610 Squadron flying a defensive patrol low over the White Cliffs during the height of the Battle of Britain in August 1940. A superb painting that symbolises a crucial period in history.

No. 610 Squadron, with a history going back to the First World War, now equipped with Spitfire Mk I’s, had cut its teeth over the beaches of Dunkirk. Based at Biggin Hill, the squadron was active in the early fighting over the Channel in May 1940, and as the Battle of Britain developed into a full scale offensive, its pilots were
engaging the enemy flying two, three, sometimes four sorties a day.

RICHARD TAYLOR:
Richard Taylor is a young talent not to be ignored. His abounding enthusiasm for painting aircraft, and the distinctive natural flair of this young professional artist is clearly demonstrated in this his second aviation painting to be issued.
In joining The Military Gallery – the same international publishing house that has represented his illustrious father over 30 years – Richard Taylor is set to carve out an exciting career for himself: a
career that the most discerning collectors of the genre will
no doubt wish to hold a stake in from the very outset.
