Description
“Dinghy” Young, flying Lancaster AJ-A, heading through flak and machine gun fire towards the Möhne Dam at precisely 60ft, has just released his cylindrical, hydrostatically-triggered bouncing bomb – clearly visible against the huge splash created as it hits the water. The mighty Möhne Dam has but moments to live.

Squadron Leader GEORGE JOHNSON DFM RAF
Bomb Aimer on Lancaster AJ-T, they attacked the Sorpe Dam.
Flight Sergeant GRANT McDONALD RCAF
Rear Gunner in Lancaster AJ-F, they scored a direct hit on the Sorpe Dam.
The print, has been given the treatment by our expert framing team and is conservation matted and framed to include an original fragment of aluminium fuselage from Lancaster AJ-M. Flown by Flt Lt John Hopgood, the aircraft was brought down after their attack on the Möhne Dam. Also included are the original signatures of the following pilots that flew on the raid:
