Description
Whilst returning from a long range fighter patrol over the Channel, a lone Spitfire of 92 Squadron is watched over by the ghost of its World War I counterpart a 92 Squadron SE5a.
This moving and evocative image is one of Coulson’s most iconic pieces and has been trading on the secondary market for many years at ever increasing sums. Coulson’s ability to capture the ‘mood’ and atmosphere is unsurpassed and his pieces never fail to capture the imagination.
This already rare print has been returned to Coulson’s studio to be further enhanced with a hand drawn ORIGINAL PENCIL REMARQUE on the border.
Signatures
Included in the conservation matting are museum quality reproduction RAF and RFC wings along with the original pencil signatures of the top-scoring RAF Ace of WWII Air Vice-Marshal JOHNNIE JOHNSON and WWI Ace Captain GWILYM LEWIS.
Coulson seldom produces remarques so this is a very rare opportunity to acquire an original piece of artwork from this world renowned artist making this a true collectors piece.
